How to practice for the Challenge
Arrange a practice session once per week (lunchtime or after-school are popular times). Use the resources available here to improve players' strategies, tactics and chess skills.
You don't have to pick the best 20 players to take part in the Challenge - take into account the work ethic, attitude, enthusiasm etc. We can even help you run an in-school tournament. No need to pick the 20 players who will challenge the Master until the day of the Challenge.
Consider taking part in a local Chess Interschool event for some 'match practice'.
Challenge other schools in your area. One sports day is bound to be a wash-out; turn it into chess day instead and get other schools involved in the Challenge too!

The goal of the Chess Challenge is to raise money for Kids Off The Kerb in order to provide at-risk children and young people with support and to create worthwhile activities and enterprise for them. While there is no minimum or maximum amount that each school must raise, to reach our objective we are setting each school a target to raise $500.
